Privacy Policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
Patchwire ("Patchwire", "we", "us") is a free daily changelog and email digest for AI developer tools, operated by Patchwire. This policy explains what we collect when you use patchwiredaily.com and subscribe to the digest.
What we collect
- Email address, only if you subscribe.
- Signup timestamp (date and time you subscribed).
CCPA categories: identifiers (email address) and internet activity in aggregate form only (page-view counts). Source: you, directly. We do not collect precise location or any sensitive personal information.
We do not collect your name, payment details, or any other personal information. We do not ask for sensitive data.
Why we collect it
Only to send you the Patchwire daily digest you asked for and to manage your subscription (including honoring unsubscribes). Legal basis under GDPR: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. Our aggregate, cookieless traffic counting relies on our legitimate interest in understanding overall site use (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we never use it for advertising.
The digest is a single daily email. Every email identifies Patchwire as the sender, includes our postal address, and contains a working one-click unsubscribe link (also exposed to mail apps via the List-Unsubscribe header). Unsubscribe requests take effect immediately. We do not send marketing on behalf of third parties; any sponsor message would be clearly labeled. We do not use open-tracking pixels or click-tracking redirects.
Where it is stored
Subscriber records are stored in a private Vercel Blob store operated by Vercel Inc. (United States). Access is limited to the operator.
International transfers
Patchwire is run from the United States and our providers process data in the United States. If you subscribe from outside the US (including the EU/UK), your email is transferred to the US. Our providers offer transfer safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Retention
We keep your email and signup timestamp while you are subscribed. If an address hard-bounces repeatedly or is inactive for 24 months we may delete it. Aggregate traffic counts contain no personal data and are kept indefinitely. When you unsubscribe or ask for deletion, your record is deleted from our store right away. Copies held by our providers (for example backups or delivery logs) are removed on their own schedules.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use these service providers (processors) only to run the service:
- Vercel Inc. for website hosting and subscriber storage.
- An email delivery provider (to be named here before the first digest is sent) to deliver the digest.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Cookies and analytics
Patchwire sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising trackers. To count traffic we run our own cookieless page-view counter: when a page loads, your browser sends the page path to our server. We store only aggregate counts per day (page views and an approximate number of distinct daily visitors). To estimate distinct visitors we compute a one-way hash of your IP address, browser user agent, the date, and a secret key; the hash is kept only in server memory and is discarded, and neither it nor your IP address is ever written to storage. Counts are stored in our Vercel Blob store. Alongside page views, the same counter records a few anonymous, aggregate events so we can see what is useful: which page was viewed, the referring website's domain only (never the full URL), how far down a page you scrolled (25/50/75/100%), which external site's domain you clicked through to, that the subscribe form was submitted (not what you typed), and the page you left the site from. Each is stored only as a daily total per page or domain, never linked to you, an IP address, or a session. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless service from our host that counts page views from anonymized, daily-rotating request data and does not track you across sites. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals by default because we do no tracking to opt out of. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and operations.
Your rights and how to delete your data
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU/UK and the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- Delete instantly: click the unsubscribe link in any digest email or on the subscribe confirmation page. This permanently deletes your email and timestamp from our store.
- Request by email: write to summit@mail.grokbot.com with the subject "Patchwire data request" and the email address concerned. We will respond within 30 days (45 days where the CCPA allows).
You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Disclosures for California residents
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA and "Shine the Light" law (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83) give you the rights described above. In the preceding 12 months we have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not disclosed it to third parties for their direct-marketing purposes.
Children
Patchwire is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Security
We use access-restricted storage and HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will notify subscribers by email.
